Sock it to me!

"Knit Night" at my house is still going strong on Wednesday nights. We laugh and drink wine and knit, or some do small projects. I have made some great friends in the neighborhood. It has warmed my heart, but my toes were cold so I had to fix that.
I have knitted others some socks but I hadn't knitted any for me so it was my turn to warm my toes.

I finally knitted some socks for myself.
Some of us are on a sock "kick" with all the cute striped yarns out there it is hard to resist.
Here is another pair for me.
I just love how the sock yarns stripe as you knit them. No color change it's all in the yarn.
I even got my sister to knit her own. Since she started knitting her own I have been able to do some for myself. She has gotten one done so far. I am so Proud! (tears rolling down my cheeks)

Isn't that cute yarn? Great job Carie.
So if you haven't ever knitted don't be afraid of doing socks. They are easy to do and they are so Darn cute and cozy.
I'm off to knit now XX's and OO's between your toes.

I'm not in Florida anymore!

Carie and I went and took the dogs out for a hike yesterday. We had a lovely time being in the trees along a creek and letting the fur babies run free.

Some times you wonder why we take root some places.

Beauty is all around us.
I just wanted to remind you that a month ago I was visiting friends in Florida combing the beach for treasures. this was a beauty that caught my eye because of the Yellow!

I knew I wasn't in Florida anymore when I came across this yesterday on my hike.

Once again it was yellow. The seashell is beautiful and all, but it doesn't do anything but look pretty. But with this treasure just think of all the potential it can do for me.

This house was a cutie along the creek.

I may not be in Florida anymore but this is where I am taking root.
OREGON

Get out and enjoy your surroundings this weekend.

Talent runs in the Family

My sister is so talented.  She is making Portrait Art/ Keepsake Quilts.
Look at what she can do with a Photo.

This is made out of fabric. I can't even go into HOW she does this so I wanted to share it with you.
AMAZING!!!!
The green quilt is my nephew Robert.

The  quilt below was taken from the above picture of my brother Scott and my niece Katelyn.

Carie surprised me with a VERY SPECIAL portrait quilt of my "Son" Henry

Go check out her ETSY store. ( This pet portrait was a special "Sister" gift)
But she does some great people portraits. It is a wonderful gift to give to someone or keep for yourself.

On the Hunt

I just had a fabulous time visiting friends in Florida. We did some beach combing and it was like being on the best Easter hunt ever.

Jackpot!

The orchids were in bloom too. Look how beautiful they all are.

These are only a few out of the 400 pictures I took this past week.

Happy Easter.

My Studio Before and After the clean up.

I like to create all sorts of things. I enjoy knitting, sewing, painting, paper projects, scrapbooking, you name I probably have a tool, or gadget to do most anything. I have a wonderful spare room in my house that is my "Studio". Sometimes it's difficult to go in there and be inspired cause most of the time it looks like this.
I always have something going on. Some thrift shop treasure that needs fixing, that gets put in here until it has a new life......

These are some of the supplies for my dog collars that I make.
Check them out HERE

A knitting project is always found out somewhere.

When it get's like this, it is not very inspiring. Time to clean up and PURGE...

This is the Before remember that K????
This closet has a mind of it's own.

My other work table
Ok Now I will show you when it's all clean.

After
 remember the Before

My Yarn cabinet

This cabinet (below) use to be a work bench out in the garage. It had a  table attached that would fold down flat. I took that off and put this old table I painted years ago in it's place. Now that is my cutting table. But wait you have to see inside.
Say Open Says Me.....

It has glues, heat gun,  some tools, rulers stencils  and alot of  scrapbook stuff.

I love that it is all at easy reach and I just have to close the door. That is the best way to clean don't ya think. Close the door, DONE!
This is the after in the closet. It doesn't look that different.  But to the left in the closet is my hot water heater.  So guess how this got cleaned out? Yep! I needed a new Hot water heater.  I had to take all this crap  wonderful supplies out and put back in.

That brightly painted dresser was found on the side of the road. I haven't painted it cause it is in the closet with wrapping supplies in it and no one sees it but me. It works great, Tissue paper in one drawer, gift bags are sorted by size, bows and ribbons are in the small drawers. And it comes in handy to hold knitting projects. Another close the door and DONE!

I hope you have enjoyed my Studio. Come on over anytime and let's do a project.

Me Cook? Well........

I have been craving Beets. Who likes Beets?  No hands?  It's one of those vegies you either love or hate. But look how pretty Beets are......

I got a recipe from a neighbor for Borscht  (beet soup) So today was the day I had to make it.

1st I chopped an onion (maybe the 3rd one I have done in my whole  life) not a favorite of mine.
Ok that's a good start. Now it is time to peel the beets

Aren't they pretty?

Scrub scrub, Hmmm will this ever come off my hands? That's ok cause it's a pretty color.

Then I didn't think this all the way through, since I am still recovering from shoulder surgery I don't have the strength to cut a beet.......

But wait I know what I need..... Dun dida dunnnnn (lightning bolt)

GINSU
"It will even cut a pop can......."   Ok that was my commercial
but it worked like a charm.
With a chop chop here and chop chop there.......

(I have got the music pumping through the house at this point)

Add a little of this and.........

And a little of that......
some spices, Cumin, Thyme, Bay leaf, lemon juice...

My  loyal cooking companion Henry.
Mmmmm, the house smells so yummy mommy

Dinner is served
Happy Valentines day early

This is the best Olive bread from Trader Joes

I'm proud of myself. It was Delish.
I brought some over to my neighbors to enjoy too. Verdict is still out, but I liked it.
