Thrifty Decor Chick: Fantastic vinyl giveaway!

Thrifty Decor Chick: Fantastic vinyl giveaway!

I Made it with what I had.

Today I worked on a project that kind of pushed the "envelope". I am only 6 weeks out from having a pretty major shoulder surgery. Today was the 1st day back with a spray can. So I started my day off with my new coffee mug full of Java.

MMMMMMMM

While I was in the first few weeks of recovery I bought some new threads from Connecting Threads. I was SO excited to receive a package with so many colors.
I am easily thrilled with just a bit of color in my life. While laying in my Bark-o-lounger I was thinking about how to label them. I got some clear plastic that you use for table clothes. It sticks to itself so my thread wont unravel. I cut 2X4 inch strips and wrapped each spool of thread. Then took my label maker and printed all the names of the colors. It was a way to be creative, and do something with my left hand Look at all the fun colors...... . Now that they are all labeled "How will I store them?" Again spending a lot of time in a Bark-o-Lounger, can pay off. I remembered that I had gotten these spice racks at a garage sale this summer. I didn't really know what I was going to do with them until BING the light bulb went on. I couldn't leave it like this though. So with a little shake rattle and roll this is what it looks like now. Yes I have 2 of them but I only ended up using 1 for now. But wait, wait, wait hold your horses. You have to see what it looks like all loaded up

It's Eye Candy
I don't have it hung up yet. I will have to wait until I have help or for the shoulder to get mo betta.
It was fun to do this today but now it is time to ice the shoulda....
Since I was at my sisters during all this brain storming we went to her thrift store to get her a spice rack. You can see hers all done and hung up in her studio HERE
I hope you enjoyed my eye candy. Happy Sunday

TA DA

Yeah It's Done! Between my Neighbor, my sister, my brother and I got "The Chandelier" is HUNG.
Just a recap on this special Gem.... I bought this Schonbeck chandelier at a Thrift shop for $5.00. worth about $500.00 according to the manufacturer. I added 2 cans of spray paint $7.00 each, rewired it so it has a plug about $20.00. Added light bulbs $10.00. So, for about $50.00 I have a new Beauty handing in my bedroom.
PA POW!!!!!
I Just Love It

My sister is making me a quilt to go on my bed too. When that is done I will decide on a color to paint my room. But for now I am just going to enjoy my new Gem.

Getting some last minute playing in......

Today I decided to get some of painting done. I'm going under the knife in a week, I am having Shoulder Surgery, I thought this is my last time I will be able to hold a spray can for a couple of months. So I dug out this little mailbox that I had picked up at a garage sale for a $1.00.
I'm not sure what I am going to do with exactly but this is how it looks now It can hold stationary / cards in my studio or I can hang it by the front door and I can put "bags" in it so they will be handy when I take Henry for a walk.

The other things I had were some trays. Something like this..... they aren't bad but they were looking grungy.
and this one I picked up at a church sale. $1.50. The white ones I have on my ottoman in my family room. They hold drinks, the remote, a tablet of paper so you can vote for your favorite contestant on any Reality TV Program..... now they are black... I like that they nest inside one another for those times I eat in front of the TV.

The other one I though would look nice at my sisters house on her Ottoman, but I think I will be using it first. While I recover from surgery. I just painted it black for now.
Thanks to my neighbor that is alway willing to help me whenever I need him. Thanks Chuck!
OH yeah I wanted to ask advice I got this wooden thingy at the same church sale for a $1.00 and I didn't know where to put it. This is what it looks like in the window in my eating area....
What do you think of this? I took the picture right, You don't have your Computer upside down
I still haven't decided if I like it or not. What do you think?

Can we say BLING BLING

I have not written in a long time. I have been struggling with a lot of shoulder pain. I have found that I have a tear in my rotator cuff so I am scheduled for surgery on October 1st. I will be in my sisters care for a few weeks. So I have been thinking of all the things I want to do while I really can't lift my arm. Of course it is my right arm and I'm right handed.

So this is what I decided to do today.............. YES finally paint the $5.00 chandelier.
I have been doing some research to find out how much it is really worth. I found out it's worth about $500. The lady at Schonbeck said, " Would you love it more if it were black?" YES, I said "So paint it and enjoy it. You won't enjoy it in a box." Thank You that is what I wanted to hear. So this is what it looks like before and when it is naked........
I made a paint booth in my garage and took the chandelier apart. I started to shake and shake those spray cans. I had drop clothes in a shape of a U and one on the floor and I put a face mask on ..... Look what I forgot tho cover.....
It wasn't a paint booth is was a Tanning bed .
2 cans of paint later this is what it looks like before I dressed it

Here comes the BLING BLING! With patience and excitement (cause I still haven't seen what has been wrapped in tissue yet). I had directions thank goodness and whom ever owned it before was very nice to label all the pieces for ME. Wasn't that nice of them?
So this is how it turned out. It's still hanging in my garage cause I have to rewire it

She is going to be quite the beauty in my Master Bedroom. I get such a chuckle out of this big Garish, crystal dripping, over the top light fixture for a bedroom.
All for $5.00 plus 2 cans of spray paint.
I hope I can get it hung before my surgery, so I can lay in bed and look at it :) Time to chill out that sucker is heavy and I did way too much on the shoulder today.
I will post pictures of her when she is hanging in all her Glory.
